Lesson Nine A Picture Show
A song & A task & A game
Known language: cat, dog, rabbit, duck, monkey, mouse…; red, blue, white, pink, yellow…; nose, ear, mouth, eye…; banana, hot dog, hamburger, apple…;
Do you…? This is my…. It’s a…. It’s white./…
New language: picture show, nothing, draw, Do you like my picture show? This is…. It’s ….
Main purpose: Able to invite someone to do something.
1. To understand the song on P 42.
2. To help Ss learn to say “ Do you like…?”
3. To draw the animals and color them.
4. To talk about the pictures of animals and the colors of the animals.
5. To understand the instructions and draw the face.
I. Teaching aids
Model UFO, Toy animals, model fruits, a box, pictures, teaching software (CAI), prize stickers, masks of Hello, pictures of animals for Ss to draw and color; Ss’ crayons etc.

V. Teaching procedures
1. Warm-up / Revision ( About 4-5 minutes)
(1) Greeting between T and Ss .( Welcome all the teachers.)
(2) ( CAI ) Sing a song-A big ball on the road ( Book I ).
CAI presents the ball ( UFO), and T presents a model UFO in the classroom to raise Ss’ interest of going to the UFO.
T points to the UFO and ask Ss with expression of surprise: “Boys and girls, look here. Do you know the big ball on the road? What is it? Listen, sing and act with me.” ( CAI song: A big ball on the road , Book I )
(3) Let’s chant: A UFO? ( Book I)
CAI presents Hello.
T: Hi, Hello. What is that? A UFO? Tell us, please. Listen.
CAI chants once, then T invites Ss chant and act together.
2. Presentation & Production ( About 22-23 minutes)
Hello’s Tests (Hello的 “过五关斩六将”)
(CAI) Hello: “小朋友们，想到UFO玩吗？如果想的话，你们必须通过我和Miss Liang 设下的难关. 你们有信心通过吗?”
(1) (CAI) Test 1 A touching game ( About 3 minutes)
T points to her nose, mouth, eyes and ears and encourages Ss to revise the words.
CAI and T gives instructions, Ss do the actions. For example, Touch your nose. Touch your eyes. Touch your mouth. Touch your ears.
(2) (CAI) Test 2 A game ( Listen and draw on P45) ( About 4 minutes)
a. CAI gives a demo of drawing and coloring the face and introducing it by “ Look, my eyes, my nose and my mouth.”
b. T gives the instructions. 1 student draw the face on a box. Then the S introduce his/ her face like: Look, my eyes, my nose and my mouth.
c. All the Ss listen to the T /1 S and draw their faces.
Ss take out the Activity Book and open to P21 ( or T prepares the copies for each S. )Then T invites 4 or some more Ss to introduce their faces by “Look, my eyes, my nose, my mouth.”
(3)(CAI) Test 3 Look and say ( About 3 minutes)
T shows her crayons and Ss answer What color is it? by It’s white. etc.
Look at the pictures in the CAI and say the animals or fruits and describe their colors.
T gives a demo. T: It’s a cat. It’s yellow.
CAI presents the pictures of animals one by one. Ss say in English and describe their colors by It’s a …. It’s ….
T assesses at the end of the test. For example, Good! Great! Wonderful!
(4)(CAI) Test 4 A Task (Draw, color and talk, P 44) ( About 5 minutes)
CAI presents a demo. T encourages Ss to try to pass the test. ( UFO, go, go, go!)
a. Draw your pictures.
b. T: “ Color your pictures by crayons. I’ll give you 2 minutes.”
c. T gives a demo of describing the pictures. T points to the picture she drew and colored.
T: “ This is my picture. It’s a …. It’s yellow.”
d. Group work: Practice
Introduce the pictures one by one in a group of four.
e. Invite Ss to stick the pictures on the board and introduce them one by one. Give prizes to groups. And T encourages Ss to pass Test 5 : “UFO, go, go,go!”
(5) (CAI) Test 5 A song: Do you like my picture show?
( About 7 minutes)
a. T points to Ss’ pictures and hers on board and says: “ This is my picture show. Do you like my picture show?”
Ss answer and read the sentences after the T twice.
T: “ What about Kay’s? (CAI presents the song.) Listen and watch the screen.”
a. Ss listen and watch the CAI twice. T does the actions and help Ss understand the sentences. (思想教育：在理解I don’t like your picture show. Nothing good to see.的同时指出，一般情况下对别人的作品的评价还是以赞扬、鼓励为主。)
b. Ss read the words of the song after the T, then sing and act after T twice.
c. Sing and act after the CAI together.
d. Group work: Divide the whole class into 2 groups and sing the song by roles. Sing and act twice after the CAI.
e. Pair work: Ss sing and act in pairs after the CAI and T.
T and 1 S give a demo first.
(Ss: UFO, go, go, go!)
(6) Test 6 Sum up and give the assignment by CAI. ( About 1 minutes)
Homework ( Test for you to do at home):
2. 模仿P44, 向你的朋友介绍你的画。
3. 唱歌P42, 并表演。
3．Conclusion ( About 2 minutes)
CAI presents Hello and UFO and hand claps.
T: “ Welcome to UFO. Congratulations. Let’s go to UFO. UFO! Go, go, go! Say after me. UFO, go, go, go!”
Ss say together.
Ss queue up according to the prizes of groups competition and sing the song Do you like my picture show? after the CAI and go to UFO. ( 1 S puts on Hello’s mask and holds the UFO and leads the class to go out of the room.)
